AI & Transparency Statement
I want to be completely transparent about the tools I use in this campaign. One of those tools is ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) language model created by OpenAI. I use ChatGPT as a research and drafting assistant—not as a replacement for my own judgment, values, or decisions. Why I Use AI Running for office means dealing with a large amount of information: reports, data, laws, research, and questions from the community.
I use ChatGPT to:
• Help locate and summarize publicly available information,
• Organize complex topics into clear, readable explanations, and
• Draft initial versions of written materials that I then review and edit. In other words, I use AI the way many people use search engines or word processors: as a tool to work more efficiently and communicate more clearly.
What AI Does Not Do
There should be no confusion about this:
• ChatGPT does not set my positions or values,
• ChatGPT does not make policy decisions, and
• ChatGPT does not speak for me.
Every policy stance, statement of priorities, and final piece of language is reviewed, edited, and approved by me (and, when appropriate, my team). I am fully responsible for what I say and what I stand for.
Fact-Checking and Sources AI tools can be helpful, but they are not perfect.
When I use ChatGPT to help gather or summarize information:
• I check important facts against original, reputable sources such as government data, official reports, and established research organizations.
• When I present data (for example, on education, jobs, or public safety), I cite the underlying sources so you can verify them yourself.
• If errors are found, I will correct them, because accuracy matters more than speed. Using AI does not remove the need for careful fact-checking it increases my obligation to check and clearly explain where information comes from. I treat your privacy seriously. I do not use AI to analyze individual voters’ private messages, nor do I feed personal, sensitive information about residents into AI systems.
When AI assistance is used, it is focused on public information and general policy topics, not on building secret profiles of individual people. Accountability Using AI tools does not reduce my responsibility—it increases my obligation to be honest about how information is created.
• I am openly disclosing that I use ChatGPT as a tool to help collect and organize information.
• I remain 100% accountable for the final content of my campaign materials and for the decisions I make. AI can help with research and writing, but it cannot replace integrity, judgment, or accountability. Those are my job, and I take that responsibility seriously.
